Protesters Clash With Police Worldwide

By: Lyndon P.

During the night of August 1, 2020, an anti-lockdown rally took place in Berlin, Germany. Police report 18 officers were injured in a large crowd protesting Germany's coronavirus lockdown. In this case, over 15,000 people were in attendance.

Mayor Ted Wheeler of Portland, Oregon reports violent protesters are also serving as political "props" for President Donald Trump because close to 200 people, some wielding homemade shields, clashed with police early Friday for the third consecutive night as two other Black Lives Matter rallies proceeded peacefully elsewhere in the city.

Authorities indicated the violent demonstrations came hours after Mayor Wheeler plead for protesters to stay off the streets, saying those who barricaded the doors to a police precinct the night before and tried to set it ablaze were not demonstrators, but criminals. Police arrested 12 adults on suspicion charges ranging from interfering with a police officer to rioting.

Two months ago, a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car accelerated into Brooke Fortson during a protest over police violence.

The officer's car continued moving after hitting Fortson and instead turned around, nearly wounded other demonstrators, and then left the scene. Video of the incident captured the officer's car identification number, and the American people are demanding answers. Police report the event is under investigation.

As hundreds of police violence videos during protests have circulated, many people wonder, what has happened to police filmed hurting protesters?
