According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average weekly income of a high school graduate is $712 whereas a college graduate with a bachelor’s degree earns $1,173 weekly. Furthermore, the unemployment rate of a high school graduate is nearly double the rate of a college graduate. In 2019 many colleges are expanding degree offerings and focusing on student retainment. How do students choose degree programs? By passion, family pressure, income possibilities, prestige, the list can go on. The truth is, selecting a degree based on facts makes the most sense. Let’s take a look at the best college degrees of 2019.

The best college degrees of 2019 provide sufficient income and projected growth for years to come. Although selecting a career may seem like a daunting task, ultimately students must think about what they could see themselves doing for at least 15 years. Millennials are one of the first generations to not remain at a single employer longer than a few years. A large number of people are changing careers before 30 years. The top priority is passion and financial investment. If a student can pay for college with scholarships and other financial aid, going back to college 15 years later won’t be so financially tasking. Even if a student uses federal student loans to pay for college and works at a non-profit or government agency ten years for loan forgiveness, that would still be time well spent.
